Green Technology Worth Knowing About for 2023 (and Beyond)
Development on the Power Alt facility; Middelburg, South Africa, started in 2007, where ADC was able to reach financial close on this 10MW facility within 3 weeks of partnering with an interested lender/investor.
Construction commenced in 2008 and ADC Projects was appointed as the Owner’s Project Manager. The project was successfully completed, on time and within budget, 11 months from financial close.
ADC is appointed the Operations and Maintenance partner to the facility and GE Jenbacher is tasked with the corrective maintenance of the plant technology equipment.
In 2012 Power Alt reached a milestone to become one of the first gas Independent Power Producers to connect and sell power to the SA state utility; Eskom.
ADC continues to operate and maintain the facility – clocking a collective 120,000 operating hours in 2016.
The Kelvin power station is situated in Johannesburg and was constructed in 1957, making it one of the oldest coal fired power stations in South Africa. The original capacity of this facility was 600MW but with the shutdown of a portion of the plant in 2012, it currently has a capacity of approximately 300MW.
ADC was approached by an international Company to conduct an evaluation on a 1040 MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine station (CCGT), in the Middle East. As part of this evaluation process, ADC had to compile a comprehensive Due Diligence report and investment model of the power station’s business, that would comply with the requirements of international financing.
ADC and an international investor teamed up to conduct a due diligence to acquire a stake in a Heavy Fuel Oil facility in Mombasa, Kenya. The facility had been in operation for 11 years and had a remaining net plant capacity of 75 MW.
